Do Something

Some ways you can make a difference...

Volunteer at Carilion Clinic Hospice.  Training will be held in October to help volunteers provide patient care and family support.  Contact Patti Hall for more details; 633-9359 or pshall@carilion.com.

Bring Food on the Fourth.  Every fourth Sunday worshippers are invited to bring a donation of food to support the Blacksburg Interfaith Food Pantry.

Support the Lord's Table.  Gardeners can bring extra produce to share and place it on the table in the fellowship hall.  Others are invited to take what they want and leave a donation which will be given to the ELCA's World Hunger Appeal.

Host a Child.  Volunteer Emergency Families for Children places children for up to 21 days after they have been removed from a home due to neglect, abuse, or emergency.  Training will be offered in the fall. Contact Kym Ludwig at kludwig@vefc.org or visit the website www.vefc.org for more information.

Donate to Lutheran Disaster Relief.  LDR is in the front lines responding to the tornados, flooding, and hurricanes which have devastated communities from Haiti to the Upper Midwest.  Donations can be sent to LDR at P. O. Box 71764, Chicago, IL 60694-1764, or via the Web at http://www.ldr.org/donate/.

Join the Choir.  Supporting the congregation in offering its praises is a high calling.  If you have a willing heart and can practice Wednesdays at 6:30, you are invited.

Fill a Shoebox for the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.  Fill a plastic shoe box with anything a small child (3-7) might enjoy. Do not include sharp objects, glass, or liquids.  Leave on the table in the fellowship hall.  Further details for this project can be found in the weekly worship folder.

Save egg cartons, baby food jars, and toilet paper tubes.  The Virginia Interfaith Child Care Center needs all of those things.  There is a box in the narthex to collect these items.
